Goodbye 2019 & 2020, Hello 2021!

It's the time of the year when everyone is winding down and creating new resolutions and goals to accomplish for the new year, 2021.
I always thought 2019 will be the biggest shift in my life but 2020 proved to be a strong contender.
2019 Recap
In 2019, I recovered from my eating disorder and eczema, and went back to normalcy after being bedridden for 2 years. I enrolled in a university and started my degree.
Being shy with little to no dating experience, online dating apps taught me a lot about dating and even myself. I have broken some hearts as well as gotten mine broken as well.
I also learned how to maximise my looks. The old me would have just worn Birkenstocks and joggers with a normal T-shirt. I realised that looks do matter and maximising them to a healthy extent can only benefit your life.
Being an introvert, I pushed myself out of my comfort zone to join a social CCA “Student Council”. I honestly didn’t expect to get in but I did and I’m thankful for the few true close friends I crossed paths with. I also made some close friends in lectures who helped me a lot for my assignments.
2020 Recap
Then came 2020. I was in control of my Ankylosing Spondylitis autoimmune condition as I learned more about mind-body syndrome where body / back pain can be caused by the mind. The human body is an intelligent machine and the mind, body, and spirit are all interlinked.
The covid-19 pandemic certainly affected and change the lives of many people. I was no exception. Due to the lockdown, I could not go out and was forced to stay cooped up at home.
Being passionate about health, wellness and natural ways to heal whenever possible, I always wanted to be create a blog to help others and give valuable information by sharing my own health journey and how I overcame it.
Therefore, I made use of the free time and took this opportunity to create a blog website which you are currently reading. Initially it was solely for fun and to help improve the lives of others, but along the way, I learned some stuff about digital marketing and I managed to get a small pocket money from it as well.
Alongside my friend, I also created an online dating course where I learn about copywriting, filming, and video-editing.
During this period, I completed stopped all internet pornography and masturbation and faced some crazy withdrawal symptoms. It was one of the hardest addictions I have ever quitted. “If you learn self-control, you can master anything.”
Finally, I officially completed my university education in Nov 2020. I had a bachelor of business (Econs & Finance) and I was worried.
Firstly, I had no interest in the finance sector as it seems pretty dry to me. Secondly, it did not help that the covid-19 pandemic only made job hunting much harder especially for someone like me who graduated from a private university. Thirdly, I did not have any internship or prior job experience.
All these seemed to work against my favour. But, I wasn’t gonna give up so easily. I sent in over 100 job applications, got called for 10 interviews, before finally getting a traineeship job offer (which happened to be the one I wanted the most).
I still remember my first ever job interview (F2F) was at a digital media company. I screwed it up so badly and felt really down. But then, it’s all a numbers game. I persevered and continued sending in my resumes and went for more interviews.
With each interview, I brushed up on my skills and answers as the questions interviewers ask is more or less about the same. As it is a SGUnitedTraineeship role and not a permanent role, I cannot be complacent and have to continue putting in effort once I begin work.
During this time while job seeking, I also picked up certificates on digital marketing and google analytics. And lastly, I also completed my AFPA Health & Wellness course and I am a certified coach now.

What’s for 2021?
My main goal for 2021 is to be more self-disciplined and to procrastinate less. I aim to be more consistent in daily meditation and reading. I am also going to spend less time on social medias like YouTube, Reddit, and Instagram as well as games like Mobile Legends.
Sometimes, I realise I scroll around the internet aimlessly without any real purpose. Therefore, I want to maximise the best out of my time and not waste it away.
Goals for 2021:
10 mins of meditation every morning.
30 mins of reading daily.
Working out 2-3 times a week.
Minimum 2 blog posts a month.
Stop endlessly scrolling around the internet and limit time spent on social media and gaming.
Do the best in whatever I do.
To be more in control of my emotions.
To have more gratitude, kindness, and empathy.

With that, I wish you guys a happy new year and may you achieve whatever goals you set for yourself in 2021. The time is now.
